About the Pulse 63

Pulse 63 is a lightweight electric RIB designed for both private use and jobs such as sailing-club coaching, harbour work and passenger support. RS uses recycled carbon fibre in the structure and places the battery in a sealed enclosure, keeping the complete boat to about 815 kg. A touchscreen and companion app display energy use and estimated remaining range, useful when an operating day mixes slow escort work with faster transits. Seating, tube colour, deck finish, branding and towing equipment can be configured, and an optional four-point lift supports yacht or commercial deployment. Leisure versions are intended for RCR compliance, while commercial builds can be coded under MGN 280 or the Workboat Code. Buyers should specify the duty cycle carefully: the boat can travel a long way at five knots, but range falls sharply as speed rises.

Best For

  • Sailing clubs needing a quiet coaching RIB
  • Marinas and operators with predictable daily routes
  • Private buyers wanting a light, configurable electric tender

Performance in Context

RS lists 23 knots maximum. Published range is up to 100 nautical miles at 5 knots, 70 at 10 knots, 45 at 15 knots and 25 at 20 knots. The old 140-nautical-mile headline was not supported by the current FAQ. Payload, sea state, temperature and reserve will reduce practical range.

Battery and Charging

The 46 kWh lithium-ion bank can charge from mains or standard shore power, while CCS can deliver a full charge in about two hours according to RS. Confirm the actual onboard AC charger, compatible DC stations and connector access. RS states the battery system is individually managed and designed for around 2,000 cycles above 85% capacity.

Availability and Pricing

Pulse 63 is offered in leisure and commercial configurations. RS now directs buyers to contact the company for pricing, so the older £85,000 figure has been removed. A quote should identify seating, coding, lift points, tow arrangement, electronics, charging hardware, trailer and tax.
