About the Edorado 8S

The Edorado 8S is a Dutch electric sports boat that rises onto a canard hydrofoil system rather than pushing its hull through the water at speed. Edorado's current page describes a validated demonstrator with a top speed above 38 knots, up to 37 nautical miles of range and as much as 64 minutes of continuous foiling. The 8.35-metre boat carries an 80 kWh battery system and twin electric drives in its documented configuration. With the foils down, overall draft is 1.25 metres; retracted, draft drops to 0.45 metre for harbour handling and storage. This is not a normal series-production day boat. Edorado says it will build only two or three numbered examples per year, positioning the 8S as a collector-grade machine for clients who accept the operating and support demands of an advanced hydrofoil.

Edorado publishes a 38-plus-knot maximum, up to 37 nautical miles and up to 64 minutes of continuous flight. Those are manufacturer figures and will vary with sea state, payload and speed. The company states operation in swell up to 1.5 metres, but route planning must also account for submerged hazards and the 1.25-metre foil-down draft.

Battery and Charging

The documented propulsion package uses two 40 kWh batteries for 80 kWh total capacity. Edorado describes overnight AC charging; DC rapid charging remains under development on the current page. Buyers should confirm connector, shore-power and charge-time details for the specific numbered boat.

Availability and Pricing

The 8S is available only through a very limited collector programme, with Edorado stating production of two to three boats annually. Pricing is supplied on request. A demonstration and a written agreement covering commissioning, training, foil service and transport would be sensible before ordering.
