About the CAT 10

The Callboats CAT 10 is a compact electric passenger catamaran developed for urban water transport and repeatable commercial routes. Its 9.9 by 3.5-metre aluminium platform uses two 10 kW motors, a 60 kWh 48 V lithium-ion battery and 1.2 kW of nominal solar capacity. Callboats states a normal capacity of 12 passengers, with a maximum of 20, and up to nine hours of operation at the six-knot cruising speed. The four-tonne catamaran format provides deck stability and usable passenger space without chasing high speed. Callboats has also used the platform in work involving digital operations and autonomous-vessel testing. Operators should distinguish this CAT 10 from the separate CAT 10 L and define seating, accessibility, crew station and certification around their route and local passenger-vessel rules.

Best For

  • Short urban ferry and resort shuttle routes
  • Operators seeking a low-speed electric passenger platform

Performance in Context

The manufacturer publishes nine hours at six knots, but commercial schedules must account for passenger load, current, wind, manoeuvring, heating or cooling loads and an operating reserve. The 20-person figure is a maximum, while 12 is the stated normal passenger capacity.

Battery and Charging

The standard data lists an 8 kW three-phase charger and a 60 kWh battery. A theoretical empty-to-full calculation is not the same as an operational turnaround. Confirm usable capacity, charge taper, shore connection and whether the 1.2 kW solar array offsets propulsion or primarily auxiliary loads.

Availability and Pricing

Callboats presents the CAT 10 as a commercial product and prices it by project. A proposal should cover seating layout, regulatory category, accessibility, charging installation, remote monitoring, operator training, spares and service support, not just the base vessel.
