About the P-8 Voyager

The Candela P-8 Voyager is an enclosed electric hydrofoil intended for water-taxi, yacht-tender and resort work. Computer-controlled foils raise the carbon hull above the water, reducing drag and actively managing pitch, roll and ride height. Candela's current FAQ lists five passengers plus a driver, 22-knot cruise, 27-knot maximum and approximately 40 nautical miles at cruise. These figures supersede the higher six-passenger, 30-knot and 50-nautical-mile launch claims still found in older announcements. The foils retract for shallow-water operation, trailering and mooring, while the direct-drive C-Pod avoids a conventional transmission. Connected monitoring and remote diagnostics are useful for commercial operators. Air conditioning and heating are optional, and their energy consumption should be included in route analysis rather than treated as negligible hotel loads.

Performance in Context

Current Candela guidance is 40 NM at 22 knots and 27 knots maximum, with results varying by load and wind. The boat can foil through waves around 1.2 metres and can operate as a planing boat in larger conditions, but range then falls. Route validation should include reserve and non-foiling segments.

Battery and Charging

The current FAQ does not provide one complete public charging table for the P-8. Operators should request battery capacity, usable energy, AC and DC charger ratings, connector standard and turnaround time for the delivered boat, including HVAC use and local grid constraints.

Availability and Pricing

Candela markets the P-8 Voyager to professional operators and superyachts by quotation. The former €450,000 figure is not shown as a current base price. Procurement should include trailer or lifting arrangements, charging hardware, crew training, foil inspection and regional service coverage.
