About the Candela P-12 Business

The P-12 Business uses Candela's commercial hydrofoil platform with a cabin arranged for corporate, hospitality and premium passenger work. It is distinct from the 30-seat Shuttle: Candela lists capacity at up to 20 passengers, with layouts that can support meetings, private transfers or hotel and resort service. At speed, active carbon-fibre foils lift the hull clear of the water while the flight controller continually adjusts ride height. Two submerged C-Pods provide 110 kW continuous and 160 kW peak each. The current platform carries 378 kWh nominal and 336 kWh usable battery capacity, supporting a published 40-nautical-mile range at the 25-knot service speed. Operators should evaluate it as a certified commercial vessel and route system, including docks, charging, crew procedures, local approvals and backup planning—not simply as a larger leisure boat.

Performance in Context

The 40-nautical-mile figure is quoted at the 25-knot service speed and varies with payload, wind and sea state. Candela designs the P-12 to foil in significant wave heights around one metre and to operate off-foil in larger conditions, but energy use rises when the hull is supported by the water. Route analysis should include reserve policy, seasonal conditions and non-foiling contingencies.

Battery and Charging

The current specification lists 378 kWh nominal and 336 kWh usable. Hardware supports up to 300 kW DC, while Candela quotes about 45 minutes from 10 to 85 percent under suitable conditions. Charger rating, grid connection, duty cycle and turnaround time need to be engineered together; an operator cannot assume the maximum rate from an ordinary marina connection.

Availability and Pricing

The P-12 Business is sold as a configured commercial project, with pricing available from Candela rather than through a public retail figure. The old €1.7 million value and earlier 252 kWh specification have been removed because they do not describe the current platform. Quotations should cover configuration, certification, charger, commissioning, training, spares and service support.
