About the Silent 60

Silent's 60 Series is a family of solar-electric power catamarans rather than one fixed equipment package. The current platform is 18.88 m overall and can be arranged with two or three decks, four to six guest cabins and optional crew accommodation. A broad solar roof feeds the lithium propulsion bank and onboard hotel system, allowing long periods at anchor without a running generator. Twin electric motors provide propulsion, while a range extender remains aboard for poor-sun periods and sustained passage speeds. The quietness and energy autonomy are the appeal, but “unlimited range” needs context: solar production is finite and daily progress depends on weather, latitude, hotel consumption and speed. Silent reports 16 kWp and roughly 100 kWh of daily generation for the 60 and 62 platforms in representative conditions. Owners still need disciplined energy planning and conventional seamanship for ocean passages.

Performance in Context

Silent's current FAQ gives a typical 6-8 knot cruise and about 12 knots maximum across its yacht range, while propulsion ratings depend on configuration. Current company material says the smallest motors fitted to new yachts are twin 300 kW units on the SY60 cruiser configuration. Treat older 18-knot and 50 kW figures as superseded build-specific data.

Battery and Charging

The standard energy concept combines a 16 kWp solar roof, lithium battery bank, shore connection and backup range extender. Silent estimates around 100 kWh of solar production per day for the 60/62 platform in favourable seasonal conditions. Battery capacity varies by build; one official brokerage example carries 215 kWh, but that should not be applied to every SY60.

The 60 Series is current and offered in multiple deck and cabin arrangements. Silent does not publish a standard new-build price and directs buyers to its sales team, so the old US$2.85 million figure has been removed.
