About the IE 250

The IE 250 is the largest outboard in ACEL Power's current Intelligent Electric range. ACEL publishes a 250 hp rated output, a 350 hp peak, a 4,000 rpm rated speed and a 186 kg motor weight. The system operates at 800 V and uses internal liquid cooling. Standard storage choices are twelve LFP modules totalling 172 kWh or six semi-solid-state modules totalling about 164 kWh. ACEL integrates the outboard with a digital throttle, touchscreen computer, smart charger, NFC key and centralized power supply. The listed base shaft is 20 inches, with extended versions available. Battery mass dominates the finished installation: ACEL's twelve-module LFP figure is roughly 1,235 kg before the motor and other equipment. This makes the IE 250 primarily a new-build or carefully engineered commercial project rather than a straightforward transom swap.

Performance in Context

The 350 hp figure is peak power; the rated figure is 250 hp. ACEL does not publish one range or top-speed result for the IE 250 because battery choice, hull, displacement and duty cycle determine them. The previous directory record listed 375 hp peak, a 310 kg motor and 200 kWh battery, none of which matches ACEL's current product page. Those values have been replaced with the manufacturer's current figures.

Battery and Charging

ACEL offers a 172 kWh LFP system or an approximately 164 kWh semi-solid-state configuration. The published LFP total weighs about 1,235 kg, while six semi-solid modules would weigh about 822 kg based on the per-module figure. ACEL lists AC chargers up to 6.6 kW and DC fast charging with a stated one-hour target. Exact DC power, connector, site requirements and usable capacity should be confirmed for the ordered system.

Availability and Pricing

ACEL lists the IE 250 for pre-order, with delivery expected about 12 to 14 weeks after confirmation. Pricing is by quotation. Confirm the final battery chemistry and capacity, charging equipment, shaft, controls, cooling, installation responsibility and local service support before committing to a hull design.
