About the Hurricane Outboard 400+

The Hurricane 400+ is the highest-output outboard shown in Evoy's current range. The manufacturer lists 300 kW nominal output, 770 Nm of torque and a 400 kg motor weight. Those numbers place it well beyond a conventional repower for a small recreational boat. It is aimed at larger planing craft and commercial projects that can accommodate a high-voltage battery bank, liquid cooling, charging equipment and the structural loads associated with the motor. Evoy supplies its propulsion systems with connected E-Brain management, helm displays and remote functions for trip logging, battery status, charge control, diagnostics and software updates. The outboard should therefore be evaluated as one part of a complete engineered installation. Battery mass and volume, transom design, cooling, cable routing and access to suitable shore power are likely to determine whether a project is practical.

Performance in Context

Evoy has not published one Hurricane-specific range or top-speed value on its current outboard page. General range figures across Evoy outboards vary substantially with hull, battery and speed. At this power level, sustained high-speed operation draws energy quickly; a low-speed maximum range is not representative of a fast duty cycle. The 300 kW nominal figure is the appropriate basis for continuous comparison. Buyers should obtain a route-based energy model and sea-trial data from a comparable installation.

Battery and Charging

Evoy offers liquid-cooled, IP67 battery systems and supports both AC and high-power DC charging. The range page lists battery choices up to 189 kWh, but a Hurricane project may require a configuration tailored to motor output and required runtime. Evoy describes DC compatibility up to 200 kW, limited by battery charge rate and infrastructure. Installed battery energy, mass, voltage, cooling and charge time should all appear in the same proposal.
