About the WAVE 150+

The WAVE 150+ is ExploMar's middle high-voltage outboard, positioned between the compact WAVE 70+ and the larger WAVE 300. It delivers 100 kW continuously and 150 kW peak, with the peak marketed as roughly 200 hp. The motor uses axial-flux technology, steer-by-wire, powered trim, a no-clutch reduction gearbox and closed liquid cooling. Published dry weight ranges from 196 to 212 kg across 20-, 25- and 30-inch shafts; the 25-inch version is listed at 204 kg. ExploMar sells it as part of a complete 540 V system with battery, SmartCaptain controls and charging equipment. The control package includes a steering wheel, control box and IP67 12-inch touchscreen. Package examples are aimed at boats from roughly six to ten metres, but the battery selection has a major effect on installed weight and usable space.

Performance in Context

The 150 kW figure is peak power; sustained output is 100 kW. ExploMar estimates energy use around 2 kWh per kilometre for its published WAVE 150+ packages, but this is not a guaranteed consumption rate for every hull. Range changes with the 90, 180 or 270 kWh battery choice, displacement, speed and conditions. Buyers should ask for the manufacturer's test chart and a calculation matched to their intended hull, propeller and operating load.

ExploMar publishes 90, 180 and 270 kWh NMC battery packages for the WAVE 150+. The 90 kWh pack weighs 540 kg, before the 204 kg 25-inch motor and other system hardware; larger packs add capacity and substantial mass. Charger choices include 7 kW portable AC, 40 kW movable charging and a 120 kW dual-gun station. Battery cooling, shore supply and turnaround requirements should be settled during system design.
