About the Ultima 3.0

The Ultima 3.0 is a portable transom-mounted motor for tenders, inflatables and other light craft. Its unusual folding handle and slim body make it easier to stow than a conventional petrol outboard, while the removable lithium-polymer battery can be carried and charged separately. Haswing publishes two selectable operating levels: 480 watts with 65 pounds of thrust and 1,030 watts with 110 pounds of thrust. The higher setting is marketed as 3 hp shaft power or roughly 4 hp petrol-outboard thrust equivalence, but buyers should compare watts and thrust rather than relying on the horsepower wording alone. Steering is by tiller with stepless forward and reverse control, and the unit can rotate through 360 degrees. Shaft variants are offered for different transoms. Published weights vary by regional battery and shaft package, so the selected dealer configuration should be checked before purchase.

Performance in Context

The motor is designed for displacement-speed operation, not planing. Haswing publishes thrust, power and a recommended maximum boat length, but does not provide a universal speed or range because both depend heavily on hull shape, load, wind and throttle setting. Full power draws about 35 amps at 29.6 volts, so sustained maximum output uses the small battery quickly. The lower 480-watt mode reduces thrust and is the more useful setting when endurance matters.

Battery and Charging

Regional packages list a 29.6-volt lithium-polymer battery, commonly 20.3 Ah or 30 Ah depending on version. The 30 Ah pack stores about 0.89 kWh. Haswing lists a 33.6-volt, 4-amp charger; recharge time varies with battery capacity and state of charge. Because package contents differ by market, confirm battery size, plug type and replacement-battery availability with the seller.
