About the TEMO·450

The TEMO·450 is closer to an electric paddle than a conventional outboard. Its motor, 290 Wh battery, throttle and telescopic shaft form one 5 kg unit that fits an oarlock-style transom bracket. The narrow body can be carried in its bag and stored without a separate battery box or power cable, which suits yacht tenders and small boats where every kilogram and locker dimension matters. TEMO rates input power at 450 watts, propulsive power at 200 watts and static thrust at 12 kg, with a claimed 1.5 hp thermal equivalence. It is intended for light craft up to about 2.5 metres and 500 kg, not as a substitute for a multi-horsepower outboard on a heavily loaded tender. The ambidextrous handle and telescopic length help it work from different seating positions, while the 30 cm draft is useful in shallow launch areas.

Performance in Context

TEMO quotes up to 52 minutes at full power and roughly one hour 45 minutes at 70 percent in its current FAQ; the user manual gives a more conservative 40 minutes at full power and about 60 minutes in normal use. Treat the difference as a reminder that runtime depends on operating level and conditions. The motor is for short, sheltered trips. Load, wind and current can materially reduce progress, so route planning should include a manual-propulsion backup.

Battery and Charging

The integrated 290 Wh lithium-ion battery charges directly through the motor. TEMO supplies a household charger and quotes about 3 to 3.5 hours from mains power in its current sales material. An optional 12-volt charger allows charging aboard. The battery is not a quick-swap module, and the manual specifies charging only within its permitted temperature range.

The TEMO·450 remains in the manufacturer's range and is sold through regional TEMO stores and dealers. Pricing varies by country, tax and promotion, so the previous bare US-dollar figure has been replaced with a direction to check the relevant regional store.
