About the 48 Fly Hybrid

Greenline 48 Fly combines a three-cabin cruising layout with an unusually integrated energy system. Its main deck keeps the galley, saloon and cockpit connected, while the flybridge adds a second helm, wet bar, seating and sun space. With the optional HDrive, an electric machine sits in each shaft line alongside the diesel engines, allowing quiet battery propulsion at low speed and regeneration while the diesels are operating. Roof-mounted solar contributes to domestic loads, reducing generator time when the boat is anchored. The design remains fundamentally a diesel-capable family yacht, and the hybrid system is most useful for marina manoeuvring, slow coastal passages and onboard energy management rather than high-speed battery running. Buyers should compare the precise propulsion and battery specification: brochures from different model years list different motor ratings, battery options and hull dimensions, while the US distributor now describes twin 25 kW sixth-generation HDrive units.

Performance in Context

The official 2024 brochure shows up to 7.5 knots in electric mode and up to 25 nautical miles at 5 knots with an 80 kWh battery option. Diesel speed varies widely with engine choice; twin 370 hp diesels are shown at up to 24 knots. Payload, sea state, hull cleanliness and options alter every figure.

Battery and Charging

The hybrid battery can be charged from shore, solar contribution and engine-driven generation. Greenline says a diesel-mode recharge can take roughly 2 to 2.5 hours in the illustrated setup. Do not confuse the propulsion bank, offered up to 80 kWh in the brochure, with the separate LiFePO4 domestic service battery.

Greenline 48 Fly is current. The US distributor lists a starting price of US$930,000 with its High Standard package, replacing the stale €850,000 claim. Final price depends on engines, HDrive, battery, accommodations, electronics, destination and commissioning.
